How do I compress a photo to 50 KB or 20 KB?
Choose the photo, tap a target such as 20 KB or 50 KB (or type any size), and press Compress. ExactPDF tries JPG quality levels and, only if needed, a smaller pixel size, and returns the best-quality JPG at or under your limit. The success message shows the exact byte count.
Can it convert JFIF, WEBP, PNG or HEIC to JPG?
Yes. The output is always a .jpg file, which most exam and government portals require. JPEG, JFIF, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP and AVIF open in any modern browser. HEIC iPhone photos open in Safari; in other browsers, share the photo as JPG first.
Is "KB" 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
ExactPDF uses 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so a 50 KB target means at most 50,000 bytes. That keeps the file under the limit on portals that use either definition.
Will my photo be cropped or stretched?
No. If you enter a maximum width and height, the photo is fitted inside that box with its proportions kept. For a passport-style crop to official dimensions, use the Passport Photo tool.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Decoding, resizing and JPG encoding run in your browser, and re-encoding removes location and camera metadata from the output.
What if it cannot reach my target?
You will see the smallest size it reached instead of a false success, and no file is offered as meeting the limit. Allow a smaller pixel size or choose a larger target and try again.
